CSE Carnival at University of Asia Pacific successfully completed

Guests take special interest in funding prospective projects
The two day long CSE Carnival 2011 of University of Asia Pacific ended with the result publication and announcement of the winners of different competitions arranged during the carnival. Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. M.R. Kabir was the chief guest in the event. Other special guests were Engr. M. Abu Taher, Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Asia Pacific Foundation, Architect Mahbuba Haque, Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, Mr. A. A. Kamruzzaman, Mr. Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Members of the Board of Trustees, University of Asia Pacific Foundation, Dr. Md. Sekendar Ali, Professor and Head of the department, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Dr. Sultan Mahmud, Head of the
department, Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities and Mr. Aloke Kumar Saha, Head of the department, Department of Computer Science and Engineering . The event was attended by a large number of students and faculty members from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).
The results and winners of the Software, hardware, programming and quiz contests are:
Software competition:
First position was jointly held by ‘Voice controlled PC for disabled people’ and ‘Learning for kids’ projects. Second position was jointly held by ‘Multimedia keyboard’ and ‘Home automation’ projects.
Third position was held by ‘Rescue robot in hazardous environment’.
Hardware Competition:
‘Digital Brail e Bangla Bornomalar Hatekhori’ secured the first position while ‘Robotic arm’ and ‘Digital Jontro e Bangla Bornomalar Hatekhori’ secured the second position. Third position was jointly held by ‘Traffic control system’ and ‘Mini Trainer board’ projects.
Quiz completion result:
Sheikh Shimul Ahmed, Ferdous Ara Mustafa and Munzur ul Mamun secured first, second and third place respectively.
Programming contest result:
In the junior category, Abdul Aziz, Dhiman Roy and Rouful Alam Majumder secured first second and third places respectively while in the senior section, Shanjoy Kumar Mitra, Sultan Ahmad Khan and Khandker Tafiqul Islam secured first, second and third places respectively.
Seminar on ‘Open Source Software’ A seminar was organized under the topic ‘Open Source Software’. Mr. Fahim Islam of Bangladesh Open Source Network was the keynote speaker in the event. The seminar was attended by a large number of students and faculty members of the department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The chief guest and the special guests widely appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students of the faculties of CSE and EE for making the program a successful one. They also assured that research funding would be made available for the prospective project and other technical and financial assistance will be provided to the promising projects.
